Egg-citing!

Easter is upon us and this is the first year that I wanted to attempt to dye Easter eggs. I love dyeing eggs. I even did it as an adult, that is how much I like. Anywho, Jack was really into it. He loved watching them color and change, mixing the colors, taking them in and out and putting the stickers on. Of course, he doesn't eat eggs, but I do and I love hard-boiled eggs. Craig helped too. He boiled them for us and took pictures and it was a great family event. Kate wasn't too into it. She watched Dora and we got her to bed. I love Jack getting older and being able to do things like this - simple fun!

New Treat

I have been introduced to a new love. My first loves are Jesus, my husband and my kids, but when Craig told me about this I had to try it. It is hazelnut butter and milk chocolate together...

I LOVE Nutella. It calls for a "sensible" breakfast on whole wheat toast with milk and OJ, but I have not been sensible about it. I cleaned out the first jar in one week and am working on my second. I have been eating it with Ritz Crackers, by the spoon and on new crackers by Ritz that combine crackers and pretzels - pure awesomeness. If you don't like peanut butter, you won't like it, but if you are normal and like peanut butter, you will LOVE it too. Find it in your local peanut butter aisle at the grocery!

Jack's Quilt - DONE!

I finished Jack's quilt last night. It only took me the two nights and really was a easier. Like I said before, I wanted to try a more difficult quilting technique, so I tried "lightening bolts" (for Lightening McQueen) and it worked pretty well. I showed Jack and he said, "oh man, Lightening". Needless to say, he was excited. I was excited too as I love seeing him happy. I will be doing more quilts in the future.

You can see the lightening bolt a little bit in this picture.

And, I a side note, I bought Nutella spread tonight and tried it and IT IS AWESOME. Any suggestions on what I could use it with? I was thinking apples.

Jack's Quilt

I have finally started working on Jack's quilt! I am very excited about this. I made the pattern easier, but I want to attempt to be more creative with the quilting part. If you haven't heard, Jack LOVES Disney's Cars. He loves Lightening McQueen, Mater, Mack and the whole crew. We watch parts of the movie at least 5 times/week. I could probably quote it for you, but I will spare you that. I whipped out the pieces tonight and sewed them together. It will be bigger than Kate's more like toddler-size, but I think he will like it seeing as he sleeps with a tractor fleece blanket, his regular Mickey Mouse blanket and a train panel blanket. What is one more to the little guy?! The back is another Lightening pattern. If one day he wants just Lightening McQueen, then he can flip it or if he wants the whole crew, well then, you get it. I will keep you updated and let you know when I finish. I am thinking it shouldn't take too long, but we will see.

Spring Has Sprung

This is ABSOLUTELY my favorite time of year. The weather starts to warm up, however, as I type this, it is about 40 degrees outside, BUT tomorrow the high is 72. I am very excited. I like spring and Easter and flowers and sunshine. In fact 4 weeks from today is my favorite holiday - Easter. Of course the best part is celebrating Christ's resurrection. We serve a living God and I love that. But, I also like jellybeans, bunnies, eggs and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Yum!

This weekend was a quick trip to O-town to visit Craig's dad. Recovery has overtaken our house as we slept in and Jack took a 4-hour nap today! He needed it.

With spring's arrival, I hope to start some sewing again. I want to make Kate's Easter dress soon and work on Jack's quilt.

Reevaluating

Well, Jack has healed quite well. No teeth issues and has actually got into a cart again despite his (in his mind) near death experience. But, has it been a week. I had an allergy attack last week that turned into laryngitis and a sinus infection. I spent the weekend barely being able to talk, much less yell at Jack. Let's just say, he was just fine without being told no by mommy all the time. After some antibiotics and Advil, I am feeling better. Not 100% yet, but should be there soon. Thankfully, the kids have been pretty good, so I am able to recover. Kate is still dealing with gunky eyes from a cold she's had too. Here is our 6-month old girl...WHAT?!?!?!

In non-complaining news, I need some more Jesus in my life. I have gotten away from meeting with Him daily. I need to talk to Him more and really start seeking His will for my life. If I am not doing that, then I can't be the wife, mother, daughter, friend, aunt...everything I can be. I am challenging myself to do more and stay committed. Just I think talking to Him more would be a nice change. I am so wrapped up in myself and taking care of "life", I am neglecting the most important relationship in my life. I am really inspired by my sister-in-law. She is amazing and seeing her grow and it is challenging me. I am glad I don't feel jealous, I just feel inspired. Brent got a GOOD one.
